Josie and co-host Craig Doyle welcomed callers to ring in with their own stories of loss as This Morning Agony Aunt Deidre was on hand to offer support and advice.

British former tennis player Annabel opened up about her own experiences with grief and said: “You will feel like that for a long time and I’m not sure that we ever get over what we’re suffering but you just hope that the tears don’t come as frequently where you’re in the midst of it right now.

“For me, dancing, walking in the fresh air, using your body and doing some exercise and just realising some of those thoughts and emotions is the only way I’m getting through it.

“It’s very raw and I totally feel where you’re at.”

In January 2023, Deirdre revealed that Rick, her husband of 55 years, had died just before Christmas aged 77.

Sharing her own personal grief with a caller, Deirdre said: “It is really tough, it’s been just over a year since I lost my husband and I still experience these moments.

“But there is nothing wrong with crying, it’s natures way of healing and healing our emotions.

“So shed your tears when you feel the need, even if other people are around.

“You’ve lost your partner, until it happens to us, you don’t realise how bad it is and how extreme it is.”

They then spoke to a mother who lost her 19-year-old daughter in recent weeks.

The heartbroken mother was in floods of tears as she spoke about her devastating loss.

It all got too much for presenter Josie as she broke down in tears on the sofa.

She was handed a tissue and was seen wiping away her tears.

The emotional segment also left viewers sobbing.

One wrote: “Crying all the way through this phone in. Sorry for your loss to all the callers today.”

A second posted: “Josie is crying,” followed by a tear emoji.

Annabel went on: “I know that my husband would not have wanted me to just be so in a morbid state all day long.

“So I try to remind myself that my husband had the most wonderful sense of humour.

“So when I get up in the morning I will try and make myself look as best I can to make myself feel better.

“And I’m always remind myself that Mel would never have wanted me to sink.”
