One woman may have found the answer.
Sash shared her mould busting trick via a video posted to her TikTok channel @sashdoeslife.
The TikToker often uses her account to share helpful cleaning tips and tricks.
Her videos are very popular with social media users and she has amassed 444,000 followers on the video sharing platform.
In the video, Sash showed viewers her university bedroom wall, which was covered in black mould.
To get rid of the mould, Sash took three simple steps.
First, she opened her bedroom window and placed an interior dehumidifier on the window ledge.
Interior dehumidifiers help to stop mould and mildew in the home.
What’s more, they are extremely cheap, and you can get a pack of 10 for just £7.99 from Amazon.
Then, she took some Astonish mould and midlew spray and sprayed a generous amount on the affected area.
This spray is also very cheap, and can be purchased for as little as £1.19 from Savers.
She then wetted a cheap cloth and wiped down the wall with it.
“I don’t really have to wipe much as the spray did all the hard work”, she said.
Sash then used an electric dehumidifier to suck out the dampness from the wall.
You can purchase an electric dehumidifier from Amazon for £40.
“I can’t afford to run this all the time, but just popping it on for a few minutes makes all the difference”, she said.
By the end of the video, Sash’s walls were clean and dry, without a speck of mould in sight.
Black mould is a fungus that grows in warm, wet conditions such as in the bathroom.
Mould can build up for a number of reasons, such as leaking pipes, poor insulation or if condensation is not wiped away after you’ve had a shower.
It’s important to get rid of mould as it can cause many health problems.
According to the NHS, black mould can lead to asthma attacks, allergic reactions and infections.
When removing black mould, it is important to protect yourself by using rubber gloves and a mask that covers you nose and mouth.
Sash’s video has clearly left many impressed, as it has racked up over 643,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on the mould busting hack.
One user said: “Those window pot dehumidifiers are a life saver!
“Had a really bad window in the spare room and its stopped it getting so much worse.”
Another user added: “Thanks so much. I bought the astonish spray and it’s honestly worked so well”.
